Digital Certificate Services Transition

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

VikingCloud has entered into an agreement with SSL.com, a globally trusted Certification Authority, to transfer our Digital Certificate Business. Below are answers to common questions about the transition.

SSL.com is a globally trusted Certification Authority established in 2002 and headquartered in Houston, Texas. With more than two decades of experience, SSL.com serves organizations across 180+ countries, has membership in the North American Energy Standards Board, the Cloud Signature Consortium, and is a voting member of the CA/Browser Forum. Their technical support and customer service teams rank consistently high in customer satisfaction ratings. They provide publicly trusted digital certificates, cloud-based code and document signing services, and enterprise PKI solutions.

All VikingCloud-issued certificates will need to be replaced by February 27, 2026. To avoid disruption, you'll need to purchase and install replacement certificates from SSL.com before this date. SSL.com will credit your account with a prorated credit equal to the value and remaining duration of your current certificates and a custom discount for future certificate purchases.

Certificates can still be purchased through VikingCloud’s Control Center or API prior to February 27, 2026. However, please note that all certificates issued by VikingCloud will be revoked on that date, regardless of when they were purchased. For certificates that will remain valid beyond February 27, 2026, you may wish to obtain them directly from SSL.com.

Yes. You will retain portal/API access through February 27, 2026, to:

Beginning February 28, 2026, access to the VikingCloud Control Center Portal and API will no longer be available. To obtain a copy of your certificate history, please reach out to the SSL.com Support Team, who can provide the details by email upon request.

If you display the VikingCloud Trusted Commerce Seal on your website, you'll need to replace it with the SSL.com site seal before February 27, 2026, or when you replace your existing certificate. SSL.com will provide instructions on how to remove the VikingCloud seal from your website and add the new SSL.com site seal to keep your website seal active.

No. Only digital certificates and the Trusted Commerce Seal are affected. All other VikingCloud cybersecurity and compliance services continue unchanged with the same teams and support.

Beyond SSL/TLS certificates, SSL.com provides Verified Mark Certificates (VMCs), code and document signing certificates with cloud signing capabilities, S/MIME, C2PA media protection certificates, and custom PKI/trust services.

For existing VikingCloud certificates (up until February 27, 2026): Contact VikingCloud SSL Support for help with your existing certificates, including reissuance or revocation.

For SSL.com accounts and new certificates: Contact SSL.com Support for account setup, purchasing, issuance, installation, or site seal assistance.

The actual replacement process typically takes 15-30 minutes once you have your new certificate from SSL.com. However, we recommend allowing 1-2 weeks to complete the full process, including account setup, certificate purchase, validation, and installation.

By taking action and ensuring the process has been completed correctly, there should be no downtime. You can install your new SSL.com certificate alongside your existing VikingCloud certificate, test it, and then switch over seamlessly. SSL.com's instructions will guide you through this process.

If you have CAA records on your DNS, you will need to authorize SSL.com by following the instructions in this article. If you do not have any CAA records, then you are all set.

Yes. Your new certificate will be issued under SSL.com's certificate hierarchy rather than VikingCloud's. However, SSL.com certificates are trusted by all major browsers and devices, so your website visitors will not experience any issues.

Yes. You'll need to set up a new account with SSL.com to manage your certificates going forward. SSL.com will provide step-by-step instructions for account creation as part of their transition communications. Once activated, SSL.com will add your prorated account credit and a custom discount for future purchases

After the transition, you'll manage all certificate purchases, renewals, and billing directly through your SSL.com account. SSL.com accepts various payment methods and will provide details during account setup.

While you have until February 27, 2026, we strongly recommend completing the transition as soon as possible. This allows time to resolve any unexpected issues and ensures uninterrupted service. We suggest completing the transition by December 31, 2025.

We recommend completing the transition within 30 to 60 days. This gives you adequate time to review SSL.com's instructions, set up your account, purchase and validate your new certificate, and install it with minimal pressure.
